Officers with Animal Protection Services in Las Vegas rescued four puppies earlier this week who were abandoned in a bucket on a sidewalk.
The officers brought them to the Animal Foundation, which announced Thursday that the puppies, all 4-month-old siblings, are responding well to emergency treatment for severe mange.
As a result of the skin condition caused by tiny mites infesting the skin, they were found with bleeding skin, open sores, and hair loss. The Animal Foundation said the pups will need several more weeks of medicated baths and antibiotics to heal sufficiently for adoption.
The puppies — named Aramis, Constance, Athos, and Milady by the shelter, since they lacked any tags or microchips– were left outside in the heat.
As animal lovers, you know that saving lives is a community effort, and we can’t do it alone,” the Animal Foundation said in an Instagram post.
